Exp2. Week2

Crazybump Before and After:

Concrete:
Concrete is the product of mixing, aggregate (rock, sand, or gravel), cement and water. The setting of concrete is a chemical reaction between the cement and the water, not a drying process. This reaction is called hydration, it evolves heat as does any chemical reaction, and the process is irreversible.

Steel:
Steel is an alloy of iron with about 1 percent carbon. It may also contain other elements, such as manganese. Whereas pure iron is a relatively soft metal that rusts easily, steel can be hard, tough, and corrosion-resistant. Used to make almost everything from skyscraper girders, automobiles, and appliances to thumb tacks and paper clips, steel is one of the world's most vital materials

Brick:
brick. Solid, hollow, or indented building element, usually rectangular, but also other shapes for special purposes, manufactured from clay, concrete, sand, and lime, or other materials, formed in a mould, then burnt, set, or cured

Exp1. Week5

The Strategy:
To reveal and conceal my number (9) and my letter (M), I’m going to design them in both micro and macro scale to give a variety sense. As it would be boring if all the letters and numbers are too obvious, I will try my best to put them in a number of interesting ways. I’m going to make two rocky hills to create an M shape, then I’m going to put a waterfall in between the hills, and the water will fall into a big 9 shaped lake. For the second one, I’m going to create a small pond and place two middle-scaled trees to form an M shape. And in the pond, there will be 9 fish swim around. Near the pond, there’s going to be very tiny 9 bugs and below the bugs, there will be a rock that forms an M shape. In another area, there will be a small island filled with ocean water in the middle so that it looks like M and around the island, there will be small trees that look like a number 9. Near the waterfall and the cottage, there will be 9 mushrooms that has grown like an M shape and the trunk of tree that is very close to the mushroom will also form an M shape.

Exp1. Week2

Halla Moutain, Jeju island, Korea
The shape/ appearance of Hallasan, the highest mountain in Korea, depicts that it is formed due to the volcano eruption. the top of this mountain is dented and it looks like there is a small puddle in the middle. there are green plants all over this mountain but it seems like there aren't many trees (the green plants might be the trees). the top of this mountain is lit by the sunlight but the some sides are shaded due to the irregularity of the terrain.

Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand
The trees without any leaves and the yellow hill/ mountain with the snow in the background show that this picture is taken in winter. It seems like the tress are grown from the shallow river and there isn't any pathway that people can walk around. the sun is illuminating the hills but not the river side.

 Namib-Naukluft national park, Namibia
This national park illustrates that it is a completely deserted place with a few small plants. The edgy hills of desert sand almost seem as if it is carved. the sunlight is coming from the back of the hills which tells us that it is close to the sunset time.

North pole, Alaska
This picture shows that there is a dense forest covered by tall, thin tress mostly without leaves. Their thin trunks convey that there isn't much water supply due to the cold and dry environment. Even though it seems like there is no clouds in the sky and the sunlight is directly coming from the sky, this area is not lightened and the sun looks blurry.

Abruzzo, Italy
This picture shows that there are a number of hills with a circular flatland covering a hill. In terms of vegetation, there are lots of different types of plants with various colours with some small and big rocks among the plants. Because of the  large amount of the clouds, the sun is only lighting the hill in the middle.
